The trials and tribulations inherent in a live production are one thing. Take that production into the great outdoors, and you’re presented with a whole new set of challenges.
Given our annual spearheading of the stream that brings the New Year’s Eve celebration in Times Square to millions of viewers across the globe, it made sense that Production Hub reached out to us when writing on the many challenges faced when mounting an outdoor production.
This year in particular, New Years Eve presented a unique challenge, as our Nick Walsh explained.
"The most challenging outdoor production I’ve been on is definitely the live production, Times Square New Year’s Eve 2019. The torrential downpour made our production we’ve done a dozen times feel like it was brand new. It was incessant, and even cameras with heavy rain protection were getting flooded. We’ve also heard that other productions there that day were having a lot of issues with keeping electronics protected from that much rain. But we pressed on and the crew came through with flying (and soggy) colors."
Of course, it’s not just the weather that can play havoc with a production’s best laid plans. Make sure to read the entire article over at Production Hub.
